MUSIC VIDEOS
One of my specialities as a filmmaker is music videos which I love to make and my approach is also informed by being a musician and band manager myself.
I can make videos for any budget and scope from low budget one person shoots to bigger scale productions with a crew. I love working with artists to discuss concepts and then figuring out a practical way of achieving your video with the budget you have. I can develop concepts myself or work with concepts, ideas or images that you have already. I can work with any form including some types of animation. The more theatrical, the better!

Here are some examples of my music videos:
HANDS TIED - UKULELE DEATH SQUAD
This is a great example of a lower budget production. I produced, directed, shot and edited this myself and we filmed this in a one day shoot.
Ash and Matt from the band came to me with a concept which we discussed and brainstormed I then re-worked it and fleshed it out.
The fact that this was all outside with no lighting enabled us to do this without any gear hire or extra crew - but was definitely aided by band members helping out with jobs on the day!

gym junkie - headphones jones
This is an example of a higher budget production which was much more involved and required a crew and gear hire. I produced, co-directed and co-edited this video. Since it was an 80s Horror themed video it also required sourcing 80s costumes, props and even a car - these kind of things add a lot more prep time and budget so is a good thing to consider when thinking about your concepts! We also had an actor playing one of the lead roles alongside the band, which is another budgetary consideration, but works great here because his fantastic performance really makes the story and the theatrical nature of the video work! Utilising some band choreography also required some more rehearsal sessions to prepare. This video required four shoots - one evening for the car driving scenes, one evening for the intro phone call scene, and two full overnight shoots for the rest of the video. Needing to film at night was also a scheduling thing to think about and required hiring quite big lights to provide enough lighting to shoot. We were really stoked with this outcome and the video is very theatrical and really sold the concept we had in mind - but definitely required a lot more work and budget to pull it off.

soccer shorts - belly savalas
This is a good example of an in-between type of production to the previous two. It required hiring a camera team and two shoots, but not hiring extra gear or actors. This video did involve a lot of producing work though as we got a real local soccer team involved to have women soccer players in the video, and we needed to arrange a soccer pitch to shoot on.
definitely- belly savalas
This is an example of a music video made during the recording process of a track - it's not a 'live' performance video because it's using a studio track utilising different takes etc and editing but does include footage from the actual recording - and in this case incidental footage from the recording experience which gives context and character to the band and process. This was filmed over a weekend up on a farm property.
'LIVE' PERFORMANCE VIDEOS
The other type of videos for bands to make of course are 'live' performance videos - by this I mean video where the band is performing and the sound is live from that performance - but NOT performing at a gig onstage. These are great for showing off what a band sounds like outside of a studio, but with the control and ability to do more creative things than you can do when filming a gig. These videos can be in any setting and I think are an opportunity to show some real personality of the band and create an intimate atmosphere and connection to the performance.
These also range in budget types depending on the concept and how complex the sound recording requirements are. I can make these videos myself with a more basic sound setup - or hire an audio engineer, and film them with one camera or multiple camera setups depending on the intended outcome - which again could require hiring extra camera operators.

live gig videos or recaps
These videos also vary a lot depending on the outcome - if you want a gig performance captured, it's often best to have more than one camera and camera operators to be able to capture different musicians and closer shots and details. The biggest consideration is going to be whether you want a video with the live sound of the performance, or a video montage from the gig edited to a pre-recorded track.
Here's an example of a highlight montage video which I hired a videographer to film (since I'm in the band) and then we co-edited it
Here's an example of a video I edited from the same gig which utilises live sound instead of a pre-recorded track.

Here's an example making an abridged 2 min 'live sound' version of a full song with some tactical editing.
